My teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centered, critical race, and critical disability sensibility that centers students' whole person development. This philosophy foregrounds building confidence in students’ experiential knowledge, and gaining the capacity to engage in complexity with curiosity, sensitivity, and dignity. I believe that whole person development and sensitivity to complexity are critical to transformative education. Through this approach, I attempt to encourage students to approach complexity with lines of inquiry and to be unafraid to question standardization with criticality and curiosity. This philosophy is enacted through a (1) read, (2) translate, and (3) make conceptual framework and delivered through (1) exposure to multiple worldviews; (2) active learning and assessment; and (3) contemplative, reflective, and analytical thinking.

My teaching experience includes six years as the primary instructor or advisor to graduate and undergraduate level students across six US-based universities.
